LK Tool Company Limited
LK Tool Company Limited was founded in Derby, in England in 1963 by Norman Keane (former Rolls Royce engineer) and Bill Lowther. LK began operations in the United States in 1983, capturing the majority of the automotive market for large-scale production control systems. Since then, LK has been developing, producing and deploying a network of coordinate measuring machines throughout the world.
Throughout its history, LK has been recognized as a market leader, and is credited with a long list of “first and successful”, such as:
The first company to design bridge-type CMM
The first OEM manufacturer to integrate a computer with a CMM
The first company to develop inspection software specifically using CMM.
The first company to use air bearings and granite for stability and rigidity.
The first company to start using carbon composite materials in the production of quilts.
The first manufacturer to use microprocessor controlled drive systems.
The first company to achieve high precision horizontal hand-held CMM
The first, which began to produce truly thermally stable KIM
Worked in partnership with Rolls-Royce Ltd to develop the first tactile sensing sensor for Renishaw when used on a CMM.
The LK brand is renowned for high-quality, innovative CMM products and excellent customer service. Its strong brand and reputation in such industries as automotive, aerospace, medicine and electronics, occupy more than 50 years.
KIM Altera Series - Excellence, both now and in the future
ALTERA is a universal CMM platform with a wide range of standard sizes and a choice of technology used sensors for each task and budget. The proven bridge construction combines more than 50 years of experience in metrology with the latest advances in CMM technology to define a new generation of CMM to ensure quality and production. As a result of this, LK Metrology is the only manufacturer of CMM that guarantees the preservation of the initially declared characteristics in terms of measurement accuracy on its CMM for 10 years.
Rail-type CMM of bridge type, model LK V-R
The LK V-R model is a high-precision and reliable large-sized CMM with an improved design, which is characterized by the presence of a unique reinforced I-beam ceramic beam on double rails. It is based on the concept of a conventional modular design that provides a highly reliable and easily maintained system used in machines of all sizes.
With extended rails it is possible to measure in the range of more than 10 m; The LK V-R model can even be mounted directly on the ground to meet the requirements of all the control tasks for large parts in the automotive, aerospace and heavy industries.
Premium KIM with horizontal measuring arm
The LK Metrology horizontal measuring arm CMMs provide unparalleled speed, accuracy and repeatability. Ceramic guides and air bearings, used in the design of the KM LK H, provide stability at high speed and acceleration. The LK Series Horizontal Measuring Arm CMs provide unique access to the measurement area and can be supplied with floor-standing or a table with an adjustable level, or as part of a fully automated measuring module
LK is the world's oldest manufacturer of CMM. This year, when LK celebrates its 55th anniversary as a leader in the CMM industry, the company returned to an independent British manufacturer CMM with headquarters in Derby, sales and support offices in the UK, North America, Belgium, France and Germany. The LK CMM brand returns a few years later as a division of Nikon Metrology, which now intends to focus on contactless metrology.
The LK brand is renowned for high-quality, innovative CMM products and excellent customer service. Its strong brand and reputation in such industries as automotive, aerospace, medicine and electronics, occupy more than 50 years. LK Metrology will focus on growth in all regions, expanding its reach to the market worldwide, using the former LK brand for CMM business and its track record.
